Pumpkins Galore!!

So this weekend has been pretty ugly in Oregon. Rain, rain, and more rain. It killed our apple orchard festival Saturday and it looked like it killed any plans for Sunday but luckily around noon it finally cleared up a bit. So we knew we just had to get out of the house. We decided to go to the pumpkin patch right down the street from us… Baggenstos Farm. Continue reading

Fresh Pumpkin Puree

So it’s that time of year to buy your pie pumpkins. One thing I learned a while back when I was perfecting my pumpkin pie and pumpkin cheesecake was that canned pumpkin is way different than fresh pumpkin puree. I have used both can and fresh and Josh could totally tell when I just canned one time . He said the pumpkin was super strong. When I made it with the fresh pumpkin puree it was just right. So from then on I will only use fresh pumpkin puree. Continue reading

Dear Hawaiian Airlines!!

Dear Hawaiian Airlines,

We were flying back from Maui Friday September 17th 2010 on Flight 40. There were very grumpy people that were cussing at there kids even when we were just entering the plane. They unfortunately were sitting right in front of us. We knew this was gonna be a hard flight with a one year old. She did really good the whole flight no crying or anything. Just when I do feed her she does tend to push on the seat in front a little and I try and hold her legs away from the chair to prevent that. But with a very active one year old that is a lap child with very little space between where she is sitting on my lap and the chair in front of here it is hard to 100 percent prevent. I held her most of the time and my Husband would hold her a few times for only a short period because she tends to sit with me more. The grumpy lady was in front of my husband and her chair was even closer to us cause she had it reclined from mid take off and the whole entire time which is even harder to prevent any bumps. I watched her the whole time cause I knew the lady was on a short fuse. Continue reading

My Maui Birthday Trip!

We had an awesome trip to Maui! 7 days of rest and relaxation. We had a great little 2 bedroom Villa at the Marriot Ocean Club right on the beach. We had a really nice strip of hotels along our beach that we would along everyday and enjoy all the wonderful restaurants. Their was also a very nice outdoor shopping mall 2 hotels down for us that we really enjoyed.

Nyla Breeze did really good on the 6 hour flight and was so incredibly excited when we got to our hotel. She was running around squealing in excitement going from room to room. It completely made my day. I was so incredibly happy to be there with my little family. Continue reading

Reminiscing on the Past…Focusing on the Present

It has been over a year since I have been back at working out. My third trimester of Pregnancy with Nyla. Before that I have been very athletic and always working out so it was quite a change on my body to have no excersise. I am finally back at 24 hour fitness and have a great workout I have been doing that has been burning tons of calories. I feel like I have so much energy again. While my workout today I had so much going through my head. Continue reading

July trip to SoCal

I am gonna keep this nice and short cause knowing me I could write a whole story on here about our California Trip. We had an absolute blast on this trip to California. We made sure we saw some immediate family but we wanted to make sure we got to enjoy our vacation there and not be running all over the place seeing people. We stayed in  hotel in Costa Mesa. Ok, so it wasn’t the greatest hotel. Josh can can tell you, he was not too happy, but I did something cheap cause we didn’t really have the funds for this trip. Continue reading

Backyard fun!!

Today was a great day. The sun was out for good. There were finally no clouds to cover it. After Nyla’s nap we decided to hang out in the backyard instead of going out. I took out my picnic mat, watermelon, goldfish, sunblock, the camera and Nyla’s sippy cup. Nyla started off playing in the sandbox for a while. I just snapped away. Continue reading

The hardest part of being a mom.

I was watching some talk show and Jennifer Lopez was on. I don’t remember which one it was, but the host asked her what the hardest part of being a mom was and she said it was the guilt. At first I didn’t understand what she meant and the host wasn’t sure either. She then explained how when you become a mom you have all this guilt regaurding your child. You have guilt if you have to leave them with someone. You have guilt when they are crying and so on…. Continue reading

A Beautiful Day!!

What a great Tuesday it was today. With a great start to yesterday and then a quick 180 that turned that day into an absolute nightmare day, it is such a breath of fresh air to have such a nice day today. I got to sleep in a little bit while Josh got up with Nyla cause I put her to bed the night before. We always start our day off with morning playtime and cartoons. She took a nap around 11am but she is such a bad napper and she woke up about 20 minutes into her nap. Continue reading
