Our Valentine Trip.. Cali style
We were so super excited for our California trip to our hometown. Little did we know that our trip would start off quite rocky. We missed our check in to get our plane tickets so we got a stand by ticket to see if there is any empty seats open. After we had to rush through the airport to our plane we found out that there was only one seat available. So me and Nyla had to take it and leave the husband there to try and catch a later flight. I was so nervous to fly alone with Nyla cause it is always nice to have Josh there in case I need his help. So me and Nyla boarded the plane. I had to try and squeeze through the plane isles with my 2 bags and a baby. When we got to our seat we were next to an older man. Nyla saw this stranger man next to us and would just look at him and give a little whine. She wanted her daddy next to us. Nyla did really good on the flight there. She played for the first hour and at times got a little loud with her playing sounds. Then I gave her a bottle and she fell asleep for the second hour. I did have to wake her up when we landed though. It felt great to know that we made it through that. We waited for my parents to pick us up and get our luggage.
Our first stop was Islands for some lunch. This was one of the restaurants I was craving when I was pregnant. It was so nice to have again. We headed back to my parents house where I ran across another problem, if this trip couldn’t get any worse. I went to unpack our luggage and realized Josh’s black luggage was the wrong one. Ugh!! My dad went back to the airport to exchange them. I just wanted to redo the whole day over again.
We had a dinner planned around 7:30pm with family and friends at Bj’s. Josh’s new flight came in around 5pm in Orange County. Me and Nyla just hung out at home until then and Ronie and Charlie Rain came over to see us. It always so great to see them. My little Niece is the cutest thing ever!!
Another little bump in the road was that Josh called Bj’s and found out that they had a party of 60 coming in so they wouldn’t have room until late. Of course, that was just our luck. So I called The Yard House at Victoria Gardens to see if they had room. Luckily they did so me and Nyla headed over there to finally see Daddy, and everyone else. It was so nice to see everyone. We had tons of people, family and friends there. Nyla was a little cranky cause poor thing had such a long and tiring day. She was totally out of her comfort zone, but she was a trooper. Day one finally came to an end. It was quite a crazy day.
Friday we got up relaxed in the morning. Nyla took her morning nap pretty early on in the day with Josh so I enjoyed the beautiful warm sunny weather and layed outside in front of the pool for a couple hours. It was sooo nice. We got ready and then headed off to Target to get some diapers, formula, and snacks for Nyla. We then went next door to a new frozen yogurt place Yogiyo. It was definitely no Pinkberry but it was still refreshing on the warm day. For lunch we met up with Ronie and Charlie Rain at Ronie’s boyfriends restaurant he works at in dowtown Claremont. After living in Cali for 23 years me and Josh have both never been to downtown Claremont, haha. It was really nice. There were cute little shops everywhere. After lunch we walked around and went into a couple shops. There was this really cute baby boutique store that had the cutest stuff. I got Nyla a little goldfish outfit. We then headed back to Josh’s moms house. Nyla was sleeping so I headed back home while Josh played with his little brother. After a couple hours we headed off to Victoria Gardens mall to walk around and enjoy a warm night. I had to get my Pinkberry, that was the first stop. Josh was a little hungry too so we then stopped at a cute little crepe restaurant that we used to love and we got a pb & j crepe. We stopped by Josh’s dads house for a little bit. After another long day we then headed back home.
Saturday we had breakfast that my mom and dad made for us and we just relaxed until my moms family came over for a little bit. We then headed off to get some dinner cause Josh was starving. We wanted to go to Lucilles Bbq but it was an hour and 45 minute wait. So we called Bj’s and they said they had no wait. We have been craving a pazooki so it worked out perfect. It was still early so we went back to Victoria Gardens to walk off our big meal and do a little shopping. We saw the Swarovski store and Josh said lets go in and you can pick whatever you want for Valentine’s Day. So I picked out this really pretty ruby red diamond heart shaped necklace. I got Nyla some new outfits from Macys. We had to stop by the puppy store to show Nyla the puppys. I got my parents some Valentine cookies from Mrs. Fields. I of course had to get some more Pinkberry. Back home we went for the rest of the night.
Sunday was Valentine’s Day and our last day in California. We got up and Josh got us donuts and Valentine gifts. He is always so thoughtful. Then we stopped by Josh’s moms house for her to see Nyla one last time since she didn’t really get to see her much. Then off to Disneyland. We absolutely had to stop by In N Out for lunch. That was a must. It was as delicious as I could remember. We got to Disneyland and it was crazy packed. I guess what could we expect for a holiday weekend, Valentine’s Day, and it was a Sunday. Normally when you live in Cali you can just got on a weekday when you know it isn’t as crowded. It was weird to be a tourist this time. Nyla did really good. She enjoyed her stroller with her bare feet up on the snack tray talking away. She got to pick out her Minnie mouse stuffed animal. We also had to get her a Valentine Minnie. All the rides were really long so we just enjoyed walking around and showing her around. We also got to enjoy our yummy pasta from Pizza Port that we used to go to Disneyland when we had our annual pass and just got for the pasta. Later that night we met my parents and brother at House of Blues in Downtown Disney for a nice Valentine dinner. Back home to pack for our early morning flight.
We had to wake up at 3:30am for our flight at 6am. Nyla did really good on the flight again. We made it safely back home and it never felt so good to be home. It was really nice to have our king size bed. Sleeping on a queen size bed is quite different. I absolutely loved the Southern California weather, but I also remember why we left. It was nice to be back in Oregon where it is less crowded and calmer. So happy to be back home!!
